October Crossroads Notes:

From our monthly Newsletter

Food Pantry - Every 1st Sunday

As you get ready for church on the first Sunday of every month, plan to bring in items and checks for the Burlington Food Pantry. In order to refill supplies on a more regular basis, the Deacons have agreed to make First Sundays be Food Pantry Sundays. A alrge red bucket will be near the communion table for you and your children to fill. Items are especially needed now. Over 35 families are currently being helped. Suggestions:
  • Money for fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Peanut Butter
  • Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
  • Dry milk
  • Disposable diapers
  • Instant Coffee (8 oz)
  • Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Hand/Bar soap
  • Detergent
  • Canned meats
  • Cereal

Checks can either be made out to Burlington Food Pantry or to our church with a designation to go to the Pantry. Make sure that items are within code date... and not about to expire!!!

    2005 Thanksgiving Food Basket

The Burlington Pantry will be giving all the food for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to approximately 150 people. This number has increased since last year; there are many people in need in Burlington. Rotary will be providing the turkeys again. The following items are needed:
  • Stuffing (bags or boxes)
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Gravy
  • Chicken Broth
  • Corn
  • Apple Juice Concentrate (canned, not frozen)
  • Cornbread Mix
  • Mayonnaise

Please be sure to check the expiration dates on these items. Fresh vegetables will be purchased, so if you would like to contribute money instead of food, your donations would be welcome. Checks should be made payable to People Helping People.

The collection will be on Sunday, November 20th. You may bring donations to the church that day, or any day prior to that, and leave them in the red tub located in the hall outside the church office. On Pantry Sunday (November 6th), the tub will be in the front of the sanctuary.
