Beginning of Drug & Alcohol Awareness Week for 2004
Sponsored by Drug & Alcohol Task Force
All Burlington residents are urged to observe this weekend as an alcohol-free period, and for recognition and teaching about the risks inherent in alcohol use, especially excessive use. On Sunday, April 25, church members who wish to participate will receive buttons to wear during the May 1-2 weekend. There will be two buttons:
- I'm alcohol-free in Burlington this weekend; or
- Someone I love is alcohol-free in Burlington this weekend.
This will make it possible for young and old to participate.
On Friday, April 30, 5-7 PM on the Burlington Common, there will be free pizza and juice drinks for everyone, speakers, and another opportunity to obtain buttons.
Rod MacDonald is currently representative from the Burlington Clergy to the D & A Task Force.

With a fun and heartfelt farewell concert for the church on April 17, the women's barbershop quartet which has practiced for fifteen years at our church, is officially in retirement. They will get together briefly in the fall, for a trip to Amsterdam. We will miss their regular presence, and occasional concerts, for our church. May God's blessings be with Liz, Irene, Mary and Maureen.

Because it was found to be a source of spiritual support by many during the last Lenten season, Session has decided to offer services of evening prayer on a once-a-month basis. The emphasis will again be on quiet reflection and prayer, with opportunity for individual prayers for healing and peace. Music will be included, in the same spirit.
